Who we are
German Doctors Nairobi is a non-profit community health initiative working alongside the marginalised and vulnerable communities of Kenya. Our doors first opened in 1997 inside Mathare 4A — Nairobi's second-oldest informal settlement — through a partnership with St. Benedict's Parish. We have grown from four doctors operating on the grounds of Mathare 4A Primary School into a network of community clinics serving Nairobi, Athi River and Kilifi.
Our work is anchored at Baraka Health Centre (Mathare). Baraka, the Kiswahili word for "blessing", remains the heart of everything we do. In December 2005 we moved into a purpose-built facility and expanded our clinical team. Today, the centre is staffed by both German and Kenyan clinicians offering comprehensive primary care, including services for patients living with TB and HIV.
Our mission
To provide accessible, quality and sustainable medical services to the marginalised and vulnerable — and to create an environment of prevention and awareness that empowers communities to become custodians of their own health.
Our vision
A dignified life for every marginalised and vulnerable person in Kenya.

Where we work
We currently run programmes at four sites:

- Fanaka Medical Centre — Athi River. A primary-care project launched in March 2020 to reach informal settlements around the Athi River corridor.
- Korogocho Health Centre — Nairobi. Opened on 28 August 2023 to serve one of Nairobi's most densely populated informal settlements.
- Bomani Dispensary — Kilifi. A maternal-health and community-health support programme run with the Kilifi County Government, North Coast Medical Training College (NCMTC) and the Community Health Promotion Fund (CHPF) in Junju, Bomani and Mtomkuu.

Our wellness pharmacy programme
Pharmacy services have been part of our clinical model since the early Mathare years. Our online wellness pharmacy is the public-facing extension of that work. The pharmacy team — supported by the same clinicians serving Baraka, Fanaka and Korogocho — sources GMP-certified dietary supplements and makes them available at fair prices to Kenyans across all 47 counties, with Pay on Delivery and a 30-day return policy.
Revenue from the wellness pharmacy is reinvested into our overheads, our outreach activities and the everyday operations of our community clinics. When you order from this site, you also help us keep our doors open in Mathare, Athi River, Korogocho and Kilifi.
Working hours
Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (East Africa Time). Closed on weekends and public holidays. Online orders are accepted 24/7 and processed the next working day.
